New translation - UTF-8 ignored

Tobi, I started to translate myblitzortung in my language and at the first steps I encountered default scenario of our language presentation - complete mess - incorect presentation in tiles and in interface in general. lv.php is saved in UTF-8 using Windows Notepad. I even tried to add meta tag in html but it is also ignored:

Yes. Unfortunately the language files are currently interpreted as non-UTF encoding and are converted to UTF during the output. Changing this was already on the top of my to do list, maybe the next days...

BTW: Don't use notepad for that. Use, for example Notepad++, which is much better!

UTF8 should work with the current master branch.

You have to save the language files "xx.php" as utf8 (without BOM header!). Simply add

$_BL['de']['is_utf8'] = true;

to that file, and it should work.

Secondly, you may have some strings in the config.php, that could use utf8 characters. Also save this file with utf8 encoding. The magic key here is

define('BO_CONFIG_IS_UTF8', true);

I couldn't test every case, so there may be still bugs.

Started to translate. Almost everything is fine. I will send you encountered bugs to you by e-mail. Work progresses slowly, there are a lot of words.

In most cases there's no real difference in safeness between tagged and untagged versions (always unsafe ). The main reason for me for the version numbers, is the support.
