    Hallo Community,

    Nun meine Frage an euch:

    Jens

    Dear Jean

I found an intresting idea in you letter: to develop a "subsystem", which continuously evaluate the storm/lightening situation, and send SMS, or shut down autonomously all the devices in our home, if, for example we are not at home....
I started to thinking about this idea. It seems me, thinking in a linux framework, and try to start from the more simple points, it can imagine a small program, which monitors the data traffic from the local sensor device to the server. If the numbers of the uploaded data reach to a predefined limit, it decides, it is a "heavy local strom nearby" situation, and make someting... but... we know in our practice, this is not the case in all situations...
From this points is open the thinking... can continue, if somebody become interesting.

Your core probelem, how will you have a working blitzortung sensor device?
It is more practical to "decompose" this problem.
Maybe, you will find here somebody, who will make for you all the stepps, need to realize this, and will offer you a help/support to start to install/use it, based on "business rules".
But it is good to know what are this stepps.

You need a kit from Egon, it has its own prices, this is the "entry" prices, but this kit contains all the components, need to build a functioning device, expect the antenna, the cover box, the power supply, some cables between the units, and the computer...
To assamble and test the kits, is not too much trouble for experienced people, maybe this is the point, where you can wait a help from this community. The basic prices at this stepps to send the kit or the ready devices from one place to another...
You need at least a usefull GPS device. You need to read the "basic document", the TOA_Blitzortung.pdf, and you can choose a GPS, mybe one, which need the less modifications, and buy it. This has its own, another prices.
To make a simple loop antenna, it is realy easy, based on some good descriptions, not so complicated as a LED based Christmas tree decoration... If you want a good looking, water resistant, outdoor version, it is another story, of course. And to realize a ferrit antenna, it has only a critical stepp, to find and buy the usefull ferrit rods...
Ofcourse, to build antenna, it has its own prices too, but not too much.
You need one cabel from the "digital board" board to the antenna and the receiver board, it is standard network cable.
You need standard, point-to-point serial cabel from the "digital" board to your computer.
Maybe, you need cable from the GPS device to the "digital" board, depending ot the choosed device.

    Thats all...
    best: Janos

    Ok, some additional (notes/prices)
power supply unit: I have a tons of such units, it is standard at network routers, switches, and so, I forget it)
    cover box:
I use my device whitout it, I forget too... It need some mechanical skills, to fit the panels in such small boxes.

(KFZ, Zeit, Sprit, Porto usw.)
Da läppert sich schon was zusammen!

    Hi,
