I'm thinking about building a Blitzortung station from the standard kit with ferrite antennas and I've got a few questions...
1) I'm about 500 metres away from an AM radio transmitter with a 4kW output at 1053kHz and 0.25kW output at 1602kHz. Is this going to cause problems? If so, could anything be done to reduce interference?
2) What size of ferrite rod is provided in the standard Blitzortung kit?
3) I have several lengths of 22mm copper pipe which I could use to shield the antennas. I'd space the ferrite rod away from the inside of the pipe with some foam wrap and cap both ends of the antenna with copper caps. Is this OK, or should there be a cut along the pipe to prevent it acting as a shorted turn?
Thanks
